In just 3 days, Royce Da 5’9 and DJ Premier will be dropping their joint project PRhyme 2! Recently, Premier chopped it up with DJ Booth and mentioned that Lil Uzi Vert almost had a feature on the album but unfortunately it didn’t happen because of scheduling issues!
The duo intended to put Uzi on a song titled “Everyday Struggle.” Premier says “Royce gave him a blueprint of singing the hook, but he didn’t really want to sing that hook, he wanted to do his own. He said, ‘I’ll write my own hook, and I want to do a verse. I can rap to those types of beats.”
We already know Uzi Vert is booked and busy!!! Sadly enough, this affected his ability to record his part on the record!
“[We] couldn’t get it [done] in the time frame of the album. Maybe we will do it later or a remix. He was down to do it.”
Though Uzi sparked a Hip Hop war and debate while at Hot 97 a few years back when he said he was too young to freestyle over a DJ Premier beat, the iconic producer/DJ and young artist have since squashed any issues they may have had. When asked about the misunderstanding and Uzi’s comments on Hot 97, Premier says they’re in a good place now. “We cleared the air on the miscommunication on the, ‘our generation vs his generation.’ We had a dope conversation,” Premier said. “The dude is up on so much hip-hop. People think because of the style of records he makes he doesn’t know our generation.”
Even though, Uzi won’t be featured on this project, we’re still stoked to hear it!!
