Congratulations to Nkosinathi Maphumulo, also known as DJ Black Coffee for being the first South African to win Best International Act at the BET awards this past weekend.
Yes, you guys all remember this past weekend was the BET awards in Los Angeles and everyone was talking about the amazing performances from Beyoncé and Kendrick, the outstanding speech from Jesse Williams and who won which awards and luckily for DJ Black Coffee he was one of those people.
The African National Congress (ANC) has congratulated Black Coffee on his success for he is the first in South Africa to win such a prestigious award for Best International Act. In a statement made, the congress says that Black Coffee has done something countless artist and others at home or across the globe would draw inspiration from. I’m sure in South Africa alone, DJ Black Coffee has influenced thousands to do better and inspire them enough to know that they can make it just like he did. There can be no limit to what a child from Africa can achieve.
Lisa Combrinck from the Arts and Culture Department said that “Black Coffee has contributed a new chapter to South African history and culture and music for receiving this award.”
The African National Congress also congratulated a few other South African artist that were also nominated for BET award categories this year including, Kiernan Forbes, Refiloe Phoolo (Cassper Nyovest) and Mthembeni Ndevu (Emtee).
Once again, Congrats to DJ Black Coffee for taking home the award, you deserved it and shout out to all the other South African artist who were also nominated.
