Swedish DJ/Producer Avicii created a documentary titled “Avicii: True Stories” is filled with behind-the-scenes footage shot by the DJ’s close friend, Levan Tsikurishvili, who followed him throughout his career, showing “Tim’s struggle and strength of character. Being a worldwide superstar artist is not as easy as it looks on Instagram,” Tsikurishvili said.
Released in October last year, Avicii states in the video that the touring lifestyle was going to kill him, and that he was being pressured to continue. Unfortunately, Avicii had people around him wanting him to continue with touring knowing the lifestyle, no matter the consequence.
Talking with Tsikurishvili, director of the documentary, he states, “When I decided to stop, I expected something completely different.” and continued to say “I expected support, particularly considering everything I have been through.”
Knowing his battle with mental and physical health issues along with his battle with alcohol, the people around him continued to pressure him into doing gigs.
“I have said, like, I’m going to die. I have said it so many times. And so I don’t want to hear that I should entertain the thought of doing another gig.”
Netflix made it available for people to see once again but it was eventually pulled. No word or statement why.
