After taking on the duties of hosting the 2017 BET Soul Train Music Awards for the third time in a row, Erykah Badu provided us (the audience) with lots of funny fun-filled moments throughout the night, but before starting the evening off rightttt, she felt the need to kneel for former 49ers Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick.

While showing off her bold and unapologetic fashion style throughout the show Erykah flexed her comedic muscles with some great jokes about former Weinstein Company co-founder Harvey Weinstein, Donald Trumptweets” about the Soul Train Awards, while showing us Trump dance moves if he was on a soul train line.

This year, Soul Train Awards celebrated their 30th anniversary by honoring the best of the best in Black music and entertainment. SWV was graced with their first Soul Train Award with Soul Train Lady of Soul Award, while Toni Braxton received the Soul Train Legend Award for her work in R&B/Soul.

With performances and tributes from Tamar Braxton, Tank, Kirk Franklin, Jessie J, Luke James, 112, SWV, Toni Braxton, Keyshia Cole, and more.

Badu then became DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown during the Hearts Out for the Soul Cypher that includes Mali Music, Bilal, Fantasia, and Faith Evans.

Congratulations are in order to DJ Khaled for winning Best Collaboration with his record “Wild Thoughts” featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, while Solange Knowles also wins the Ashford and Simpson Songwriters Award (along with Troy L. John & Raphael Saadiq)
