FYRE FESTIVAL FOUNDER BILLY MCFARLAND PLEADS GUILTY FOR SCAMMING INVESTORS AND FALSIFYING DOCUMENTS!
Almost a year ago, the disaster that was Fye Festival is finally over. The two-weekend event that was supposed to be held on the island of Great Exuma with some of the biggest acts in the world, such as legendary rock band Blink-182 and hip hop legends in the making Migos, with luxury accommodations, and great food.
Instead, the hundreds of fans arrived on the island to learn that the acts cancelled and that the accommodations were far from luxurious. So no musical acts, no adequate, and you’ll be sleeping under dirty leaky tents, someone has to be responsible and that person’s name is Billy McFarland.
Billy McFarland was the concert promoter who promise hundreds of people this music festival, scammed 80 investors and falsified documents to retrieve the funds to put the 2017 Fyre festival together.
Charged with two counts of wire frund, carrying up to 20 years in prison, McFarland pleads guilty. According to NPR, since he plead guilty he will most likely serve 8 to 10 years in prison and will have to pay up to $300K in fines.
