Major fashion retailer H&M has been in hot water after conducting a photo shoot with a young black boy wearing a green printed hoodie that says “Coolest Monkey In The Jungle” in their latest ad for fall 2018.

After the photo circulated around the internet, social media users such as fashion bloggers, celebrities, political activist, DJs, and such have made it known that this is not cool, period.

Was h&m tweaking with this or na?

Dear @hm i have questions..

H&M soon apologies right after everyone starts to say it had blatant racial overtone.

“This image has now been removed from all H&M channels and we apologize to anyone this may have offended,” H&M spokeswoman Anna Eriksson said, according to CNN. (9News)

H&M joined the list of other major companies that have attached themselves to racist, careless, and/or clueless advertisement. Dove, Kegllogg, Pepsi, and more are all on the list. (TheRoot)

When will companies realize that you shouldn’t do things like this, morally its WRONG, but even for your bottom line you could be taking a big risk, so all I have to say is, ‘know before you go’ with all marketing… unless you’re trying to be in the headlines. Does all press equal good press?
