Jackmaster is a master DJ, and DJ Times was able to sit down and ask him about his setup, mixers, sets, and his philosophy on DJing. It’s clear that he knows what he is doing and that he is making a name for himself the right way.
For his setup, he went from vinyl discs, to Serato on turntables, and now has switched to Pioneer CDJs. The reason for the big switch was due to traveling purposes, and makes it easier to transport from gig to gig. For his mixers, he owns an Allen & Heath Xone: DB2 and nobody really uses it. He doesn’t tend to use the effects too much, just mostly when he is recording a mix.
Jackmaster says for his sets, he doesn’t think of the songs in terms of genres, rather just in energy levels. When he feels that the energy needs to be a switched up, he will bring in a new beat and sound.
He then spoke about his philosophy on DJing itself, he says that even if he does not look up at the crowd, he knows what people are feeling and what’s going down!! Now that he is getting more comfortable with his skills and his DJing, he looks out into the crowd and feels lucky that he has reached this level in his career.
