JERMAINE DUPRI BECOMES THE 2ND RAPPER TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE ‘SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME’ #HISTORY
Atlanta’s most legendary artist Jermaine Dupri is officially inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, following right behind Jay Z to become the second rapper to ever be inducted.
The Songwriters Hall of Fame took place at the Marquis Hotel in New York City, where two of the most iconic musicians and close friends of Jermaine Dupri, Usher, Mariah Carey, Grammy Award winning songwriter Johnta Austin, along with JD’s daughter Shaniah who is featured on WE TV’s popular show ‘Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta‘ we all in the building for support.
Fun Fact: Just a few months ago, Jermaine Dupri also accepted the Breaking Barriers Award at the Global Spin Awards during 2018 NBA All-Star Weekend.
Not only did the night include JD receiving this proteges award, he decided to do something he never did before, and that is, perform songs he’s written for other people.
