Solange Knowles being a cultural leader, woman who stands up for racism, with a #1 Billboard album for “A Seat at the Table” earned her the American Express ‘Impact’ Award at the 2017 Billboard Women in Music Awards.
Solange accepts her award while reflecting on her youth and her father Matthew Knowles use to read Billboard. She has grown to become a determined woman that lives in her truth, and that stands for woman evolving in this industry, so as she continues to blossom into a fearless creative being, I am not surprised Billboard decided to honor her for her impact in music.
Solange acceptance speech (snippet):
“I have so much gratitude in my soul for how the way my work connected with people,” she said in regards to her celebrated project A Seat at the Table. “When I think about the word impact, I can’t think of a more humbling way to articulate the mark that I would have liked to leave on the world with this work.”
