South Carolina’s staff believes Gamecocks fans will see a more exciting product in their seven trips into Williams-Brice Stadium this fall.
Hiring a live DJ to place in the stadium for pregame and in-game entertainment will definitely become one of the highlights for the fans at the game.
“Our music wasn’t where it needed to be. It just wasn’t resonating with any segment of the fan base. It needed a refresh. The new D.J. will provide that refresh,” says USC marketing director Eric Nicholas, “the school’s senior associate athletic director for marketing and branding, told The State. “Everyone’s pulling the same direction that recruiting is our No. 1 focus. With that being the direction, it’s a natural fit.”
South Carolina’s DJ will not be the first to get a DJ to living up their audience while bringing something new, Clemson received major attention when they brought on a DJ Sha, who plays in Memorial Stadium.
The DJs job as the entertainment will be to play pregame, anytime during the timeout that the band isn’t playing, as well as interjecting music between plays when necessary.
The music will definitely be pre-approved by school officials (clean and edited versions of songs).
“It’s not like we’re going to play music between every play, but we will be learning from Game 1 to Game 7 what resonates with the fans and the players,” Nichols said. “I expect it to be very positive. The music is an area that we needed to improve, and we are putting human resources and financial resources into making it better.”
