Heron Preston believes that taking risks is what makes a designer great! Clearly he walks it like he talks it (sorry, I was just listening to Migos). The fashion designer and DJ just dropped a Vladimir Putin shirt and has no regrets. Retailing for $594 American dollars, the controversial design features the longstanding president of Russia rocking a pair of shades with Preston’s trademark logo and Mr. President written in Russia spelled out in crystals.
“Yeah, there is a mix of emotions and feedback: Some people hate me now and some people really love the T-shirt,” Preston told WWD in an interview on Wednesday. “But I think it comes with the territory of having a point of view and I think that that is what makes a great designer or marketer — to stick with your beliefs and take risks. If I did not take risks, I think life would be a bit boring.”
With an election two days away for Russia and Puttin running for his fourth term, the shirt was strategically released and expectedly garnering much attention.
Do you think the shirt IS #DOPEORNAH?
